ALH Group Pty Ltd has submitted an application to redevelop the Coolum Hotel site at Coolum Beach by constructing a hotel, shops and motel
units. Development Watch acknowledges that redevelopment of the site is warranted but the current proposal has significant issues that would
need to be addressed to bring it into line with the planning scheme, Maroochy Plan 2000. Given the application conflicts with many aspects of
Maroochy Plan 2000, Development Watch will request Council to refuse the application.

Development Watch objections to the Application relate to:

• lack of architectural merit;

• lack of need for a bulk liquor store;

• lack of evidence that the proposed retail floor space (2,288 square metres) and motel units (39 in number) are needed; and

• adverse impact on local businesses and the Coolum economy.
